Mountain Scene Glass Art Piece - Tabletop Art, Home Decor

$250.00

I was inspired to create this scene by the view of Humphrey’s Peak near my home. How fortunate to live in such a beautiful area! I weas moved to capture the beauty in glass as timeless as the mountains.

This mountain scene is created entirely with glass. The background colors of glass were chosen carefully to created the general form. Powdered glass was layered into "frit wafers" and fired separately to create the waves of grass. Features of the mountains and forest were also created with powdered and ground glass of various particle sizes. The trees were formed into a mold with glass powder and fired separately as well. All of the components were then assembled and the finished composition was fired together to create the finished picture. The finished picture was then carefully annealed to make it both beautiful and durable. The base was chosen to enhance the natural feel of the scene.
